    Nach dem kritischen und kommerziellen Scheitern des Films von 1993 zögerte Nintendo, sein geistiges Eigentum für Verfilmungen zu lizenzieren. Durch Nintendos Zusammenarbeit mit den Universal Parks & Resorts bei der Schaffung von Super Nintendo World lernte der Mario-Schöpfer Shigeru Miyamoto Illumination-Gründer Chris Meledandri kennen. Bis 2016 diskutierte Nintendo über einen Mario-Film und kündigten schließlich im Januar 2018 an, mit Illumination und Universal zusammenzuarbeiten, um einen neuen Film zu produzieren. Am 6. Oktober 2022 wurde ein Teaser-Trailer des Filmes über eine speziell dafür angekündigte Nintendo Direct gezeigt.

    Der Super Mario Bros. Film sollte voraussichtlich am 23. März 2023 in Deutschland, als weltweit erstes Land, in den Kinos anlaufen. wurde aber auf den 6. April 2023 verschoben.

    Der Film ist nach 30 Jahren(!) ENDLICH ein würdiger Nachfolger der Zeichentrickserie.

    Die Handlung ist eine Vorgeschichte wie alles begann.

    Hier sieht man auch die KOMPLETTE Familie der Mario Bros!

    Es gibt viele Anspielungen auf die Spiele, auch auf andere Spiele, manche deutlich, manche dezent.

    Im Hintergrund hört man viele Neuauflagen bekannter Melodien und bei manchen Szenen sogar Popsongs!

    Natürlich gibt es ein Happy end und sogar Bowser geht es am Ende noch gut.

    Ich schätze, auch wer die Spiele nicht kennt, dürfte an der Handlung Gefallen finden.

    Es gibt ein paar wenige einzige Logikfehler, über die man aber hinweg sehen kann und auch hinweg sehen sollte, da sie nicht wirklich für die Handlung wichtig sind und kaum auffallen.
